(Note: There's no advantage to using a dealer local to us, other than the proximity to our shop, as we have no agreements or arrangements with any dealers.) Regardless of which path you choose, our customers supply the van for their build. \u00a0 We require a $1,000* deposit to hold a build spot on our schedule and to begin designing your build. The deposit will\u00a0 be applied toward your final conversion build cost. \u00a0\n<p>Next, the team at Overlander Vans works with you to design your van based on your needs and wants. We will compile a list of the features you're looking to have in your conversion (toilet and\/or shower, etc.). As we design your van, we will send you 3D CAD drawings showing the proposed layout and you will be able to request modifications and ask questions. Once we have a final layout, a detailed written estimate and cost is provided for your approval.\u00a0 When you have reviewed and approved, we will draft a contract including details on how and when payments should be made. Typically this includes:<\/p>\n<ul> <li>50% of total cost due\u00a0 two weeks prior to build start date - to order materials and begin your build;<\/li> <li>40% of total cost due at van midway completion;<\/li> <li>Final balance due prior to scheduling van pick up appointment.<\/li> <\/ul>\nThe team at Overlander Vans will source all the components, place the orders and track all the shipments and deliveries. \u00a0 We ask that you have your van at our shop one week prior to build start. Build times can vary with availability of parts and materials, but your custom van conversion typically will take 10 to 16 weeks. We ensure continual communication during your build, with plenty of pictures and updates. Communication with our customers is important to us and we know you're excited to hear about our progress.\n\u00a0 *Once drawings and a build estimate are provided, only $500 of your deposit is refundable, should you elect not to move forward with the build.\u00a0 We will, of course, make every reasonable attempt to design your van according to your specifications.<\/li><li><h4>Who supplies the van ?<\/h4><p>The customer is responsible for the purchase of the van and there are two options - purchase at a dealer near your home and bring it to us, or use a dealer in the Pittsburgh area.
